I became interested in radio when my father made my first radio when I was about 7 years old (I still have that radio and it works!). I became an avid SWL when I was about 12 years old, after being involved with a jamboree station as a cub scout. I’ve been a participant or an organiser of JOTA ever since. I obtained my license in 1969, passing the RAE and the Morse in the same year with the callsign G3YOA. Aspects of amateur radio that I am particularly interested in are, Antenna Design and Construction, DF hunting, Equipment Construction, Slow scan TV, Kite antenna’s and Kite Photography using a 70cms link for monitoring of the camera viewfinder. I became an Instructor and BDXG Examination Secretary in 2008 when the group began their own Courses, so if you’re thinking about getting licensed give me a call… Still an active member of Norfolk Amateur Radio Club and one of the 5 original Bittern DX’ers. |
