On the weekend of the 26th and 27th of September members of the Bittern DX Group (BDXG) and the Norfolk Amateur Radio Group (NARC) joined forces for a Railways on the Air event. Both clubs operated a separate SES from the two main stations on the North Norfolk Railway's "Poppyline", which runs between Sheringham and Holt.

As proposed NARC operated from Sheringham station with the callsign of GB1NNR and BDXG operated from Holt station using the alternative callsign GB2NNR. It was a fantastic weekend with beautiful weather, plenty of interested visitors to both displays and it was enjoyable to have a relaxed effort on the air.

It was a fantastic event on the PR aspect and the location Holt station was very good, if a little noisy at times. Our colleagues at Sheringham station were even closer to the action, in fact a little too close with smoke from the steam train billowing into their shack. Numbers didn't really allow us to activate Weybourne station this around apart from the odd mobile QSO.

This is not the first time the two clubs have worked together in 2004 and the 200th anniversary of Cromer lifeboat station.. It is hoped that this becomes an annual event In both group's calendars and who knows maybe other joint projects will follow in the future?
