Hi There All. We are hoping to run some events this year (2022) all being well. Here is a preview of what’s on. There are some awaiting confirmation. please note that the Gunton Saw Mill Museum is 25th / 26th June and not as on the events calender.

There are some alterations to this years events calender due to various reasons some have been cancelled.

The event 1381 Battle of North Walsham has been cancelled by the organises due to their main backer pulling out the organises cannot raise enough funds at this short notice so they have had to put the event on hold but they are looking at trying again in the future.

Field day 2022

I am sorry to say that due to lack of local support and a number of unforeseen issues, including the rare European Bee Eater deciding to nest on our usual site, the Committee has regretfully taken the decision to cancel our participation in VHF field day this year. It is very disappointing as this will be the first time that G6IPU/P has not managed to participate in some way, with the exception of the 2020 lockdown. As those of you who have participated in the past will be aware, Field Days are very labour intensive and whilst the operators play their part, the more essential roles are transport of equipment and willing hands setting up and dismantling stations.

I have spoken with Daniel regarding the possibility of using the field later in the summer for perhaps the VHF low power contest, if we can get enough interest. He is happy for us to set up in the usual position (the birds and RSPB will have gone). I have left it that I will contact him nearer the time if the team decides to participate in that contest or maybe some other.

My thanks to those who have continued to put in work and time on equipment in the hope that more support would be forthcoming. Let’s hope that 2023 will be a better year for us!
