Julian M0NUX gives an interesting talk to the Derham Cub Scouts on the Bittern DX Group’s Educational Outreach Project

Monday 19th & Wednesday  21st March 2018 was the second event of the new year for the Bittern DX Group’s Educational Outreach Project. 6 members of the Bittern DX club Steve M0HET, Alec G3YOA, Ian M0IWB, Julian M0NUX Adam M0OAS, and myself Peter G6ZRV visited the Derham Cub Scouts to demonstrate Amateur radio and to help them with their Communicators Badge. In total there were 24 Cub Scouts on the Monday and 30 Cub Scouts on the Wednesday.

Julian M0NUX gave a talk to the assembled cubs about amateur radio and amateur radio in space then took a very lively Q&A from the fascinated cubs.

Each Cub then had the chance to conduct a QSO with a club member over 2m and 73cm hand held TX/RX and receive and repeat a special message over the air, the standard of operation was very good with all Cubs getting a certificate as part the the badge work. All agreed that it had been a very worthwhile project and hopefully some potential future Radio Hams.
